High School Roof & RTU Replacement: Replacement of an existing gravel roof system and rooftop mechanical units at an active high school campus, including installation of a new TPO roofing system and phased RTU upgrades to support continued building operations.

The Challenge
The existing gravel roof, original to the 2001 construction, required full removal and replacement while the campus remained fully operational during the school year. Work needed to be executed outside of standard hours to avoid disruption to students and staff. Additionally, rooftop unit replacements had to be carefully phased to maintain continuous HVAC service to occupied classrooms.

Our Approach
Toltec Group implemented a highly coordinated construction plan focused on safety, sequencing, and minimal disruption. Off-hours and weekend work windows were utilized to perform demolition and installation activities, including the removal and disposal of the existing gravel roofing system. The new TPO roof was installed with careful attention to detailing and long-term performance. RTU replacements were executed in phases, ensuring that classroom environments remained conditioned throughout construction. Close coordination with school administration allowed for clear communication and efficient execution.
The Outcome
The project was successfully delivered with no impact to daily school operations, providing a new, high-performance roofing system and upgraded mechanical equipment. The improvements enhanced building durability, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort.
Key Takeaway
Successfully executed complex exterior and mechanical upgrades within an active campus environment through careful planning, phased implementation, and disciplined off-hours construction.
